Routeburn Track
Returned from the two day tramp on the Routeburn today. Maria and me walked in yesterday, left our packs in the hut and went on to the saddle. We didn't quite make it because it was about to get dark soon but nonetheless we reached Lake Harris, what's a spectacular view. A lake up in the mountains, close to the top. ;) Great views! And we had really good weather on top although it had been raining earlier that day. But since we've been walking under the trees it didn't really bother us though. Besides the rivers where in high flood due to the rain what made them even more spectacular to look at. We got to bed at about 8 pm because it was already pitch black back then and got up at around half past seven to see the sunrise. Not quite as red as I would've liked it to be but really nice nonetheless.
On the whole track back to the car park we had fantastic weather!!! Sunny as. Walking and enjoying the sun - as much as possible since we where walking a lot in the forest like on the way to the hut. Sideline: The way out was exactly the same as in because it's no circular track and we didn't wanna do the whole one and get alllll the way back to the starting point again.
Maria is heading to Wanaka tomorrow and I might stick around Queenstown for one or two more days. After that I'll make my way to Christchurch to proceed north. But who knows what will happen or what will come in my way.
